Sasha Video: Screen Space Reflections Vs. Vulkan/DXR-based Ray (Path) Tracing.

Updated: Dec 28, 2021

I started using YouTube again and here is my first video, which I am calling a 'Sasha Video'. Basically just about stuff I am interested in, typically very short (<5 minutes).

Since I was thinking about the subject of Ray Tracing after doing a comparison post on Metro Exodus Sam's Story, I wanted to demonstrate what I think is probably one of the best uses of Ray Tracing in video games; Reflections.

Global Illumination is very well done on Metro with RT, but I would have loved to see the game use RT Reflections. If you look at some of my gaming videos, especially in Sam's Story where there is a lot of water, you will see the limitations of Screen Space Reflections become quite apparent after watching my video here.
